Full Version: [CA11] SmartController charging cable wiring

We recently purchased a sailboat with an existing complete Raymarine system, including a wireless autopilot SmartController. The previous owners had the SmartController's charging cable hardwired into the 12v system, but in an awkward location. I went to move it, but can't find any install notes on which wires on the SeaTalk1 cable to use. There were only two connections before, so I assume that it was the regular Seatalk power (red positive and bare/shield as negative), ignoring the yellow data wire, but would like to confirm before reconnecting. Thank you.
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum jrpsmith,

The SeaTalk Cable's red (+) and shield (-) leads should be connected to a +12VDC power circuit and ground respectively. A 5A inline fuse should be installed between the SeaTalk Cable's red lead and the +12VDC power circuit. As you have suggested, the SeaTalk Cable's data (yellow) lead will not be used.
Perfect, thank you. All worked perfectly.
You're welcome.
