I am going to purchase a new radar. I am also having problems determining the differences and any benefits in going to the Quantum 2 over the Quantum. The performance specs seem the same.

Can you provide the advantages of buying the Quantum 2 over the Quantum?
Thanks-
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Bill,

Should the vessel feature an Axiom, Axiom Pro, or Axiom XL MFD, then the primary differentiating features of Quantum 2 are:
- Doppler moving target display allows for superior situational awareness at-a-glance ... targets that are closing on your vessel are automatically colored red, while targets which are moving away from your vessel are automatically colored green. No interaction is required. This hands-off feature is among the product's most valued.
- Fully automatic MARPA target tracking, along with manual MARPA mode (requires heading input (ex. autopilot or AR200 Augmented Reality Sensor) to the system).

For those having MFDs running LightHouse II software, a Quantum 2 radome would be recommended for those who will be adding / replacing a radome onboard and/or for those who may be upgrading to an Axiom, Axiom Pro, or Axiom XL MFD in the future. When used with a MFD running LightHouse II software, the Quantum 2 radome will support the same radar features supported by a Quantum radome.
