My boat currently has an Axiom chartplotter, an ST6002 and an SPX5 autopilot. Currently the ST6002 and SPX5 are connected via Seatalk. I would like to replace the ST6002 with a P70 and replace the Seatalk wiring with Seatalk NG.

The SPX5 computer is currently on software version v3.00. Looking at the software history, it looks like the SeaTalk NG compatibility features were added in v3.00. Will I be okay with this setup, or does it need to be updated to v3.05?

A1. Whereas this installation involves an X5 autopilot rather than one supporting fly by wire, it should not be necessary update the course computer with the v3.05 software update. It is additionally recommended that you ensure that the p70 autopilot control head has been updated with the latest available Raymarine product software update.
