I am having an issue with connecting my AIS700 with my Element HV9.
The AIS700 has sw 1.03 and the HV9 has sw 3.10.10
I am connecting the AIS700 with the supplied power cable to my battery.
I am connecting the HV9 with the supplied power cable to my battery.
Both units works as they should separately.
I am connecting them together with 2 x SeaTalkng to DeviceNet adaptorcables(A06045), which is connected to a SeaTalkng 5-way Connector (A06064) with 2 x SeaTalkng Backbone Terminators (A06031) and a SeaTalkng Power Cable (A06049) wich is connected to my battery.
I cannot see the AIS700 in any of the menus on my HV9.
Can you please help me troubleshoot?

Harald
Dear Harald,

Thank you for your post.

Have you programmed the AIS700 with ProAIS2 on a PC?

Have you checked your AIS700 is viewable on something like marine traffic or a friends AIS receiver?

Have you got the AIS layers switched on in the chart app?

From the homescreen > settings > this display > networked devices - can you see the AIS700 in this list?

What is the status on the AIS700 showing?

Many Thanks
Louise

Good morning,

Please send me a system diagram of your installation.

Many Thanks
Louise
Good morning,

See the attached photo.

The left cable is connected directly to the AIS 700 NMEA2000/SeaTalkng®connection

The middle cabel is connectet to the battery.

The right cable is conected to the supplied power/NMEA2000 cable on the Element HV.

The AIS700 get power from the supplied power/data cabel. The NMEA0183 connectionwires are NOT connected to anything.

Harald
Dear Harald,

Thank you for your post.

There is no image attached but I have attached the connection drawing from the manual.

I need to confirm how your AIS700 is networked.

Referring to the port numbers in the image

1) You have port 5 connected on a spur to the STng backbone?

2) Port 6 is only for connectivity to your PC, this should not be used on the vessel network

3) Port 7 is your power supply.

Many Thanks
Louise
Hi again,

Yes I have made connections according to the connection drawing in the AIS700 manual.

I believe that all connections are correct.

Attached is a photot of my 5 way connector.

Are there a way to log any traffic on the AIS700 or the Element?

Regards Harald
Hi Harald

The AIS traffic can be monitored by connecting PRO-AIS2 to the USB port of the AIS700 and then you can see the AIS traffic incoming, assuming that this is all OK then the odd thing is that you cannot see the controls in the set up menu to turn the AIS layer on - as suggested by Louise in the earlier post.

My suggestion would be to carry our a hard reset on the Element unit, this is described in the attachment, then check again to identify if the AIS control are available in the chart app.

regards

Derek
