Full Version: e95 touch screen trouble - fix or replace?

Hello!

Our new-in-2014 e95 MFD developed a bizarre issue on the way North from Florida a couple days ago. After being heavily soaked with blowing rain and possible salt water splashing (34 knots apparent and 6' seas from aft), the top 3/4" of the touch screen no longer responds to touch commands (thank goodness for the separate buttons!). The display itself is fine, and oddly enough, the screen calibration routine says its working just fine up there!
I'm gonna guess that water has gotten in, so the real question is whether it's worth having it repaired or if we should be looking at replacing it.

Thoughts?

Hello Hartley,

Normally I would recommend sending the display in to get an estimate for repair. If water did get in it I would recommend replacing it and starting new. The advantage there would be the warranty and starting fresh. Most of the equipment that works with the e95 is plug and play with Axiom so it is a easy upgrade.

Best regards,
