Have existing a67 MFDs (600W Sonar variant) driving E66088 (B60 12deg) hull mounted transducers.
Can a a78 MFD (Downvision variant) be connected directly to the B60?
even if there are limitations on its performance, can it be done & function without damage to either unit?
If the answer is no, what converters could be used, and what loss in performance/sonar display detail?
Lastly, are there any flush mount thru-hull transducers available that are fully compatible with the a78 or other Downvision variants?
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum socalsailor,

Q1: Can a a78 MFD (Downvision variant) be connected directly to the B60?
A2: Negative. The CHIRP/DownVision fishifnder circuitry of the ax8 MFDs, eSx8 MFDs, and CP100 is not compatible with and cannot be adapted for use with transducers designed for use with any of the following fishinding products:
- ax7/cx7/e7D/e97/eSx7 MFDs
- CP370/CP300/DSM30/300 50/200kHz Sounder Modules
- CP450C CHIRP Sounder Module
- CP470/CP570 CHIRP Sounder Modules

The CHIRP/DownVision fishifnder circuitry of the ax8 MFDs, eSx8 MFDs, and CP100 is exclusively compatible with the CHIRP (Conical) / DownVision transducers found here. Unfortunately, Raymarine does not offer any flush mounted versions of these transducers. Some boat manufacturers have designed an exact fit recess within the hull to permit the thru-hull versions of these transducers to be installed.
