What differentiates a Quantum radome from a HD Radome?

Raymarine's Quantum Radomes are differentiated from Digital and HD Radomes and HD/SuperHD Open Array Pedestals in that Quantum Radomes feature a solid state transmitter rather than a magnetron. It is this design feature which permits HD color imaging, lower power consumption, instant ON operation, improved short range detection, and excellent target definition. Quantum Radomes are an excellent choice for sailing vessels (or other vessels where the lower radar power consumption is a concern) and others seeking a low cost 24 nm radome. Quantum Radomes are offered in version supporting both a Wi-Fi and wired communications interface as well as a Wi-Fi Only version which offers further cost savings.

Should a customer be interested in longer range, tracking nearby weather, 48 RPM operation, dual range, or should the vessel be primarily used for fishing, then a HD Digital Radome or HD Open Array Radar System would typically be recommended. The HD Digital Radomes support Bird Mode with interfaced compatible MFDs supporting the Bird Mode feature. Bird Mode increases the ease of locating sea birds, which in turn signal the presence of fish. Power consumption, instant ON operation, 48 RPM operation, dual range, and Bird Mode features aside, comparing Quantum Radomes to HD Radomes and HD/Super HD Open Array Radar Systems is essentially one of Good, Better, and Best with respect to radar performance (target definition, range, etc.).
