My autopilot was installed in 2001 and continues to work properly, except for a pump noise.

The Type 1 rev pump (A12010) started making an unusual noise while pumping to port, but sounds fine while pumping to starboard. I recently bled the system to see if air was the problem, but the noise continues.

I am confused why only the noise in the port direction and would like to repair before its a big problem. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks, Paul
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Paul,

Given the symptom, action taken to unsuccessfully address the problem, and the age of the pump, it is recommended that the pump be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.
Just a quick follow up to my previous post:

I removed the pump and disassembled the electric motor. I found one permanent magnet broken, which I epoxied back in placed. I cleaned up the housing, rotor and end plates and reassembled. The motor ran smooth and quiet. I would have like to change the motor shaft seal in the oil housing, but it seems to work fine. Everything is back together and the system bleed. So far so good.

This pump assembly is a very good design, particularly the brush holder housing. It is very easily removed from the motor housing without even having to cut the wires.
Thanks for the follow-up.
