Hi -

I'm very close to purchasing an Axiom 9RV, but I think that I have run into a couple of minor roadblocks and have several questions:

1 - It appears that non-Pro Axioms do not natively support NMEA0183, and I have an older Raymarine VHF DSC fixed-mount transceiver (215) that needs NMEA0183. Am I correct that the following kit will supply NMEA0183 to the 215 from the 9RV:

2 - Can I then use one of the NMEA2000 (white) ports on the converter to establish connectivity to another NMEA2000 device, namely a Fusion MS-IP700i by using a SeaTalkNG to NMEA2000 cable?

3 - I'm I correct in assuming that the NMEA2000 connector on the 9RV's power connector does not supply bias (power) to the NMEA2000 bus?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Mike
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Mike,

Q1. It appears that non-Pro Axioms do not natively support NMEA0183, and I have an older Raymarine VHF DSC fixed-mount transceiver (215) that needs NMEA0183. Am I correct that the following kit will supply NMEA0183 to the 215 from the 9RV:

A1. Yes.

Q2. Can I then use one of the NMEA2000 (white) ports on the converter to establish connectivity to another NMEA2000 device, namely a Fusion MS-IP700i by using a SeaTalkNG to NMEA2000 cable?

A2. Note that the Converter only features two spur sockets (white). One will be used to connect a SeaTalkng Power Cable and the other will be connected to the MFD. You will need to add an additional spur socket to the SeaTalkng backbone created to the E70196 VHF NMEA 0183 to STng Converter Kit. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject.

Q3. I'm I correct in assuming that the NMEA2000 connector on the 9RV's power connector does not supply bias (power) to the NMEA2000 bus?

A3. Correct.
Hi Chuck -

Thank you very much for these clear, concise answers. And thank Raymarine for this high-quality forum - I'm only a pleasure boater but I'm not aware of any other resource quite like your corporate web presence.

I've ordered the 9RV and look forward to installing it!

Best regards,

Mike
