Recently replaced my DSM30 with a CP370. The system now is a B744VL, CP370 and E120 classic. The DSM30 provided fairly accurately depths well into the hundreds. I noticed that with the new CP370, it stops displaying depths past about 150 feet or somewhat less. Do I have a problem? When I upgraded to the CP370, I was told that no software changes were necessary, so none were performed.
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum mistertj,

Please excuse the delay in this response. It sounds as though there may be an issue with the system using only the 200kHz frequency. Within the Fishfinder Settings menus, have you selected the B744V from the transducer list displayed? Have you tried manually switching from the 200kHz frequency to the 50kHz frequency? If so, what were the results?
Hi Chuck - Yes, Have the B744 selected. I have not tried switching the frequency and since I am now in 8 feet of water, I would not be able to tell any deep water results but will try when in deep water again. Can I interpret your comment implying that perhaps the 50khz might work better?

On a related topic, a recommendation previously made was to replace my failed DMS30 which I did with the CP370 but how does my system know that it now has a CP370 or does it not need to know?
mistertj,

Q1. Can I interpret your comment implying that perhaps the 50khz might work better?
A1. Yes. With a 600W transducer the maximum depth which we typically associate with 200kHz is 180'. The 50kHz frequency is typically recommended when depths exceed 180'.

Q2. On a related topic, a recommendation previously made was to replace my failed DMS30 which I did with the CP370 but how does my system know that it now has a CP370 or does it not need to know?
A2. The does not need to know that it has been interfaced to a CP370 instead of a DSM30. As far as the MFD is concerned, the CP370, DSM300, and DSM30 are all treated identically.
Thank you. You can close this. I will make switch to use both frequencies.
You're welcome.
