I understand that to connect an AIS 650 to an E120 Classic (w/ SW V5.69) I must use the NMEA 0183 interface (38.4k between the E120 and AIS and 4.8k between the AIS and my VHF [Ray215]). I also have a SeaTalkng network connected to the E120. On the SeaTalkng network is an EV-1 autopilot, i70 display and Volvo Penta Converter (for engine data). Since the E120 Classic cannot process AIS PGNs, can I connect the AIS 650 to both the NMEA 0183 and SeaTalkng thus allowing the i70 to display AIS data.
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Tim,

As the A/C-Series MFDs ignore SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 PGNs containing AIS data, you may indeed interface the AIS receiver/transceiver to both the NMEA 0183 input port of an A/E-Series Classic MFD and to a SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 backbone to which the MFD has also been interfaced.
