Recently got this setup and looks ok apart from this part of the unit that looks as though it has got too hot and some black stuff is crumbling, see pic attached. The par number is AFBB / a5293a and what does it do please.

Without seeing an image I am unable to answer your question correctly. However, parts will only perish due to a fault or some sort of water ingress.
