Full Version: [CA11] NMEA 0183 Cable Part Number for E70202 MFD

I have searched and cannot find the part number for the cable that plugs into the the "Network" connector on this a78 MFD. The cable I am interested is for NMEA 0183, not for Ethernet.
The manual:
a / c / e SERIES
INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
English
© 2015 Raymarine UK Limited
Date: 08-2015
Document number: 87247-2-EN

has a drawing of it here:
4.9 NMEA 0183 connection —
Power/NMEA/Video cable

I think it is meant to connect to an AIS or VHF radio using NMEA 0183 communications and not Ethernet. Your link only shows cables with RJ-45 connectors and no additional wires for NMEA 4800 and 38400 baud.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Peter,

While the cable which you have referenced may be used with Raymarine's a9x MFDs and a12x MFDs, it is not designed for use with a6x MFDs and a7x MFDs, as the latter a-Series MFDs do not feature a NMEA 0183 communications interface. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how a device having a NMEA 0183 communications interface may be interfaced to an Axiom MFD, an a6x MFD, or an a7x MFD (ex. your a78 MFD).
Thanks, Chuck: I did not know that. Since I have not bought the AIS yet, I will focus on NMEA 2000 units only. I imagine that would be better in many ways and not that much more expensive.
Peter
You're welcome.
