RKW68,

Q1. You don't pick up interference from the fiberglass ?

A1. Negative. However, signal strength is reduced when transmitting through a fiberglass hull, resulting in reduced depth and potentially some reduction in sensitivity. That said, they typically experience a less aerated flow of water beneath them, often permitting them to hold bottom at greater speeds. While each hull will differ with respect to such performance, the M260 onboard my own boat will hold bottom at speeds in excess of 45 MPH in depths over 160'.

Q2. Based on Striperstan's comment toward the M265 is it just as good an option as the T7077's. As I already had the housing installed and everything it would be a lot less trouble. I mostly troll and bottom fish. trolling in usually less than 600' and bottom usually less than 200'.

A2. I would be inclined to agree with Striperstan's comment. Please be aware Airmar produced a couple of versions of the M260. I would recommend checking with Airmar to ensure that the reservoir for the version which you have may accommodate the M265.
I spoke with Paul Crosby at Airmar/Gemeco when I swapped my M260 for a 265. He pointed me towards this installation supplement, after we confirmed that my old tank was the newer model, as Chuck mentioned. If you don't have a metal top, then yours should be to.. http://www.airmar.com/uploads/InstallGui...446-02.pdf
