When unloading (select not to show the route) a route - the waypoint remain in the chart - only the lines between the waypoint desepares.

When we are racing several different cources within i day this makes the chart "busy" with dots

As you have suggested, commanding a route to be hidden will cause the route's leg lines to be hidden, but its waypoints will remain on the screen. You will find that the command sequence MENU->WAYPOINTS, ROUTES, AND TRACKS->SHOW/HIDE (WAYPOINTS)->HIDE ALL will hide all of the waypoints via a single command. After doing so, then the desired route may be selected to be navigated/shown within the Chart application.
