Hi all,
This may not be possible but worth a try. The radar cable is run from the radar all the way down the mast and then to the e97 display in the cockpit ( the vessel is a 44' catamaran). In the cockpit the cable is split with the power connected to a 12V power supply and the other end ( which is a RJ45 fitting ) to a RJ45-RJ45 connector and an RJ45 - Raynet adaptor cable running from the junction box to the MFD.
Now the issues are:
1.) The end fitting ( which is aluminium ) is quite corroded on the radar end.
2.) The cable run is very long and next time they plan to unstep the mast, someone will have to cut the cable.
Questions:
1.) Does raymarine make replacement plugs to cut and remake the plug at the radar end? ( there is lot's of excess cable available)
2.) What would be the best way to offer a quick unplug at the base of the mast.
In my mind the long way would be:
1.) Replace entire cable with a shorter length that reaches the base of the mast then using an RJ45 - RJ45 coupler extend the RJ45 to where it was before.
2.) find another 12V power suply closer to the base of the mast.
This method would require a very tedious cable removal and replacement so hoping there is another way.
Many thanks for the help!
