Is the P79 compatible with the A98?

Bob
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Bob,

During manufacturing, a tag identifying the transducer make, model, and product ID is affixed to the plug end of Raymarine or Airmar fishfinder transducer's cable. The product name (ex. B319 B260, B744V, P66, P79, etc.) identifies a family of transducers rather than a single transducer, each of which is designed for a specific manufacturer and fishfinder or instrument product offered by that manufacturer. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. If supplied with a photo of the transducer's tag, we may be able to positively identify the variant of P79 and identify possible options for its use. None of Raymarine's P79 transducers may be mated or adapted to be mated to the fishfinder Transducer socket of an ax8 or eSx8 MFD to support the MFD's Fishfinder features.

NMEA 2000 variants of the P79 transducer may be interfaced as a spur to a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone to which the MFD has additionally been interfaced as a spur. NMEA 0183 variants of the P79 transducer may be interfaced the MFD's NMEA 0183 input leads. Instrument variants of the P79 transducer may be interfaced to an i50 Depth instrument or to an iTC-5 analog instrument converter along with an i70S MFID (all of which would be interfaced to the aforementioned SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone) to support populating the Depth data item within the MFD's Databar, Data application, or Databoxes.
