Can someone please advise if the heading data output from the EV-1 is HDT or HDM to set swithes on a NMEA-AD10 converter

Thank you for your post. The EV1 is NMEA2000 and the sentences you are referring to are NMEA0183, therefore HDT & HDM are not supported.

The EV1 supports the following NMEA2000 sentences;
127250 vessel heading
129027 COG & SOG
129284 Navigation data for following routes
