Dragonfly display not powering ON after pressing power button

The most common reason for incorrect reporting of Dragonfly displays not powering ON after pressing the display's POWER button is a failure to correctly insert the power/transducer cable's plug in to the display's socket. Dragonfly displays are frequently removed from the vessel after each use, making it necessary to correctly connect the power/transducer cable to the display with each use. To do so, the locking ring should be positioned such that its tabs are located in 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions. Should the locking ring be slightly offset from this orientation, then the plug will not fully seat, preventing the display from receiving power. After having correctly seated the plug, the locking ring should be rotated clockwise such that its tabs are located in the 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock positions to lock the plug within the display's socket.

The second most common reason for incorrect reporting of Dragon displays not powering ON after pressing the display's button results failure to hold the Dragonfly display's POWER button pressed for a sufficiently long enough period of time. To switch a Dragonfly display ON, its POWER button should be held in the pressed position for a minimum of three seconds. After holding the power button pressed for this length of time, a soft audible beep (only original Dragonfly 6/7 displays) may be heard (depending upon the amount of background noise in your area) to alert the user that the command has been acknowledged. Approximately six seconds later, the Dragonfly splash screen will be displayed and will remain displayed until the Dragonfly has completed initialization. Initialization is typically completed within one minute after the Dragonfly splash screen is displayed.

Should the above operational procedures have been followed, then it would be recommended that the power/transducer cable be unplugged (rotate the locking ring counter clockwise such that its tabs are located in 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions) and that a voltmeter be used to probe its two power pins (pins 4 and 5 - see the diagram below) to ensure that power is being supplied to the cable's plug. If so, then the Dragonfly display should be sent to Raymarine's Product Repair Center to be bench checked/serviced. If not, then the Dragonfly display's power/transducer cable assembly or extension cable should be sent to Raymarine's Product Repair Center to be bench checked/serviced.
