Route Following intermediate waypoint with e7 - jefndeb - 06-28-16 08:39 AM

Hello,

Are the instructions below still valid?

To follow a route from an intermediate waypoint point of the route,

1. command the Chart application to follow the desired route or reverse and follow the selected route (establishes the direction of the route)

2. command the MFD to stop following the route position the cursor over the intermediate waypoint of the route ... the cursor will be labeled WPT

3. press the OK button

4. select the FOLLOW FROM HERE option from the Waypoint context menu displayed.

I cannot get the "follow from here" option to present itself....please advise

Thank you

jefndeb,

If operating with the v17.45 or later a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software, the only reasons which would prevent the Chart Point context menu from including the Follow From Here option are:
- the MFD is not receiving a GPS position FIX from the internal GPS sensor of one of the system's MFDs or from an external GPS sensor ... check the MFD's GPS Status dialog to determine the GPS FIX status
- a MOB (Man Overboard) event has been triggered ... when a MOB has been triggered, the Databar will feature the MOB symbol and will include coodinate, range, bearing, and timer. Holding the WPT/MOB button pressed for approximately three seconds will cancel the MOB
- the system is currently navigating to a waypoint ... configure a Databox to display the NAVIGATION->WAYPOINT INFO data item. Should the range and bearing fields not be dashed (-.-), then the system is currently navigating to a waypoint/cursor position. Use the STOP GOTO or STOP FOLLOW commands to stop navigation. Should the navigational state persist, then it would indicate there is a fault within the installation of your system and it would correspondingly be recommended that a system diagram of the vessel's system be submitted to assist the team in identify the fault.
- the operator is either imprecise in hotspotting the route's waypoint or is not holding one's finger to the screen sufficiently long enough (approximately two seconds) to bring up the waypoint's context menu
