Radar Overlay with C-Series Classic MFDs & C/E-Series Widescreen MFDs

Unlike early versions C-Series Classic MFD and C/E-Series Widescreen MFD software, the final release of software for these MFDs will not support the Chart application's radar overlay feature using GPS COG should the system not be interfaced to a source of heading data. Should one desire to use the MFD's Radar Overlay MARPA radar features, then a stabilized heading source supporting 10Hz or greater heading updates is recommended (ex. Raymarine EV-1 Sensor Core, Airmar H2183, KVH AutoComp 1000, etc.). Raymarine's EV-1 Sensor Core has the advantage of being similarly priced to the other sensor alternatives and is a core component of an Evolution autopilot. As such, should the system ever be expanded to include an autopilot, then the EV-1 Sensor Core could be removed from the list of required autopilot components.

Raymarine recommends that accurate 10Hz or greater heading data be supplied to any system using using any of (but not limited to) the following Radar and Chart application features:
- MARPA
- Waypoints Displayed within the Radar Application
- North Up or Course Up orientiation within the Radar Application
- Radar Overlay within the Chart Application
- Heading Vector within the Chart Application
- Vessel Icon Orientation within the Chart Application (will default to COG when no heading data source is detected)
- Chart Orientation within the Chart Application (will default to COG when no heading data source is detected ... when not moving or operating at maneuvering speeds, the Chart orientation will revert to North Up unless the system is interfaced to a source of heading data)
- Heading Databar and Data application data items
- Other heading dependent features.
