[CA] RN300 - barberhaulerr - 12-04-17 05:55 PM

I have a RN300 that is stuck in simulator mode. I think I remember that the RN300 defaults to the simulator mode if it does not see a GPS signal.
If this is so, might I reasonably assume that the very old RF antenna to which it is connected has failed.

Is the default mode as I describe and if so will a GA-150 antenna be a suitable replacement?

Thank you,

Keith

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Keith,

The RN300/320's Simulator may be commanded ON/OFF via the command sequence MENU->SYSTEM SET UP->SIMULATOR->ON/OFF. Should a RN300/RC320 fail to receive a GPS position FIX via its internal receiver, then the RN300/RC320 may be configured as a GPS repeater rather than a GPS master and may then be interfaced to a SeaTalk or 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 source of GPS data. Raymarine no longer offers GPS sensors supporting these communications protocols. As the Raystar 150 GPS Sensor features a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications interface, a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter Kit would be required to bridge data from the Raystar 150 GPS Sensor to the SeaTalk bus. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how the Raystar 150 GPS Sensor would be interfaced to a similar product.
