Offset applied within depth data item of DPT sentences transmitted by DS400X/DS500X/DS600X

The NMEA 0183 specification specifies that the depth data items included within the DBT and DPT sentences are defined to be depth below the transducer. The DPT NMEA 0183 sentence includes a field for depth offset. However, the depth value reported within the NMEA 0183 DPT sentences transmitted by the DS400X, DS500X, and DS600X are instead sum of the depth below transducer and the depth offset.

Given this fault, should the NMEA 0183 output port of the DS400X, DS500X, or DS600X fishfinder be interfaced to a NMEA 0183 listener and should a depth offset be configured within the fishfinder's settings, then it is recommended that the DPT sentence be configured OFF within the fishfinder's NMEA 0183 output configuration settings. Unfortunately, the DS400X, DS500X, and DS600X were retired quite some time ago, and no further software updates will be released for this product.
