[CA] Inverted mount for Fair Camera - paul shard - 03-22-18 02:35 PM

Our new FLIR camera is being mounted up on the mast on a Scanstrut mount. It is in the inverted position but the mount above it would seem to expose the wiring connections to rain and pooling water since the mount is an open framework. Does it need to have protection for this to seal the top from water ingress?

Thanks,

Paul Shard

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Paul,

Mounting the camera ball down within a ScanStrut mount would not be considered a best practice for the potential problems which you have identified. Additionally, the ClearCruise feature, introduced in MFDs running LightHouse 3 v3.3.170 and later software, is not supported in conjunction with M132 and M232 thermal cameras which have been installed in the ball down orientation.

Thanks very much Chuck - we'll remount the camera right side up!
