MFD is reporting ownship AIS data
Raymarine's Ray260 and Ray70 VHF radios, as are some third party VHF radios, available in variants having internal AIS receiver technology. Should an AIS transceiver additionally be installed upon a vessel having a VHF radio w/AIS receiver circuitry, then the AIS receiver feature of the VHF radio w/AIS receiver circuitry must be configured OFF. Failure to do so will cause the VHF radio w/AIS receiver to permit ownship AIS data received from the AIS transceiver to in turn be passed through to any interfaced chartplotting products, MFDs, or Multifunction Instrument Displays. Should ownship data be transmitted to the chartplotting products, MFDs, or Multifunction Instrument Displays, an AIS dangerous target alarm may be triggered to be displayed.
