[DG] EV-1, ACU and P70s Commissioning - WEG3 - 08-14-18 08:09 AM

I’ve installed my EV-1, ACU and P70s, but had to send my wheel drive in for repairs. Is there any reason why I can’t proceed with the commissioning of the installed components while I wait for the return of the wheel drive?

Hi WEG3

Thankyou for your enquiry.

Since part of the commissioning involves setting up the motor phasing and hardover time, for which the drive unit is required, you can only carry out a limited commissioning.

Basically you can test the autopilot electrical installation is OK, when you power up the system, you can check the EV1 is communicating correctly with the system and displaying the correct compass heading, you can put to sea and linearise the compass, with the Autopilot in STANDBY mode, motor the boat at more than 3.5kts in a circle, taking 5 minutes to complete a circle, this will linearise and align the compass.

After that, you will need to wait for the drive to be returned.
