[CA11] eS97 and AIS target tracking - george123 - 11-15-18 06:17 PM

The sailboat has the eS97 with Lighthouse 2 software installed. The boat also has an AIS receiver connected to the NMEA2000/Seatalkng
buss. I would like to understand if you can selectively remove one of the AIS targets so that it does not cause an alarm condition if this target is following you. This target is a friends boat that is traveling as part of a group going south. All other target should stay active and cause alarms when you are on watch at night. The crew is sleeping and these alarms from the boats that are in the traveling group cause them to wake up.

Thanks
George

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum George,

Unfortunately, LightHouse II software does not support the feature which you have inquired about. When in close proximity to the buddy vessel, you may want to consider configuring the Dangerous Targets alarm to OFF to avoid repeated alarms.

Will the lighthouse III software version support this feature?

George,

Negative. While the LightHouse II and LightHouse 3 software support tracking buddies, designating a buddy will not remove it from the list targets to be checked for threat of collision. While I haven't received any similar requests for removing AIS buddies from the list of targets to be checked for threat of collision, a corresponding feature request will be logged for consideration to be included within a future LightHouse 3 software update. As a workaround, if truly not concerned about collision with your buddy's vessel, then you may work with the other vessel to have only one vessel performing AIS transmissions and monitor. Any risk of threat could then be communicated to the other vessel.

Thanks for the information. I will think about the work around.

George

Again Raymarine does a great job on this forum!
