[CA11] Quantum 2 height - MarkB - 02-06-19 08:41 PM

I am installing an 18” Qauntum 2 and it will be mounted 90” back from the front lip of the flybridge soft top. I understand the beam to project downward 10 degree’s.

Q1) How high does the radar need to be elevated on a pedestal for the beam to clear the front lip?

Q2) How high would it need to be if I added a 4 degree wedge/washers?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Mark,

Q1) How high does the radar need to be elevated on a pedestal for the beam to clear the front lip?
A1: This is calculated using the tangent formula:
tangent 10 degrees = Height / 90"
Height = tangent 10 degrees * 90"
Height = 0.1763 * 90"
Height = 15.87"

Q2) How high would it need to be if I added a 4 degree wedge/washers?
A2) This is calculated using the tangent formula:
tangent (10 degrees + 4 degrees) = Height / 90"
Height = tangent 14 degrees * 90"
Height = 0.2493 * 90"
Height = 22.44"
