[CA11] P70s to ST60+ tridata connection - Graceyboy - 05-16-19 06:21 AM

I have just bought the Evolution wheelpilot autohelm (containing the P70s control head) to replace my old ST4000. The ST4000 was connected to an ST60+ tridata via a SeaTalk cable which powered the unit. Within the system is the ACU. Can the power input for the ACU power the P70 and ST60 through the SeaTalk(ng) or do they need a separate power source. If they need a separate power source, can the ST60 be powered from the P70 through a SeaTalk converter cable.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Graceyboy,

As the p70S and ST60 instrument will be communicating with the system via different languages (SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 vs SeaTalk), a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 to SeaTalk data bridging device will be required. For such purposes, Raymarine offers the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter Kit. The SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter will need to be installed as backbone component within you system's SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. The SeaTalk socket of the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter will then be interfaced to ST60 instrument. The ST60 instrument will be powered by the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone via the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter.
