[CA11] PGN 130311 - mannery - 05-20-19 03:50 PM

I see from the LightHouse 3.9 Advanced operating instructions document that 3.9 can Receive PGN 130311 (Environmental Parameters)

Can this PGN be displayed via a Data Overlay?

If not where can one access the information broadcast on this PGN (from another device on the network) on my Axiom running 3.9?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum mannery,

NMEA 2000 PGNs are designed to include multiple data items. Some systems (Raymarine as well as third party) will fully populate all data items within a PGN, while other systems (including Raymarine and third party) will only populate the PGN with the data items which the product is capable of determining values to populate it with. Raymarine's Dashboard application, Sidebar, and Databoxes are correspondingly not designed to display PGNs, but rather the data items contained therein. A complete list of the data items supported by the LightHouse 3 v3.9.46 Sidebar and Data overlay features may be found within the Data overlay and Sidebar data item section of Chapter 3.3: Data overlay of the LightHouse 3.9 Advanced Operation Instructions. A complete list of the data items supported by the LightHouse 3 v3.9.46 Dashboard features may be found within the Available data items section of Chapter 12.3 Customizing existing Data page of the LightHouse 3.9 Advanced Operation Instructions.

I see in Section 3.3 "Data Overlays" it is stated that water temperature can be displayed in Data overlays and sidebars.

Does this refer to water temperature as derived from the thermistor‎ on say an RV-100 transducer, or is this information populated from the temperature data item contained within PGN130311, or perhaps it can be configured for either?

mannery,

Q1. Does this refer to water temperature as derived from the thermistor‎ on say an RV-100 transducer.
A2. Yes. This would also be populated by PGN 130310 ... the PGN featuring water temperature and this same PGN would be used to populate the Water temp data overlay / Dashboard data item / Sidebar data item.

Q2. or is this information populated from the temperature data item contained within PGN130311.
A1. Negative. See the response to Q1.

Q3. or perhaps it can be configured for either?
A3. Not supported. The MFD will prioritize water temperature data. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject.
