[DG11] Raytheon ST50 to seatalkng - kdammen - 06-12-19 07:02 AM

I have a Raytheon ST50 tridata with depth and speed transducers I would like to connect to my axiom. I got a seatalk to seatalkng kit, but am having trouble getting it to work. Can someone verify the ST50 tridata even possible to connect in this way?

Hi kdammen

The Early ST50 displays used an older version of SeaTalk sentences and so it is unlikely the Speed information will be transferred through the SeaTalk to STng converter.

If it is an ST60 display then this should be OK.

Check the converter is powered only from STng, it must not receive power from the SeaTalk side of the network, ( cut and insulate the red SeaTalk wire connected into the yellow socket on the converter).

Check the STng network is correctly powered and has two terminators in place at each end of the backbone of the network.

If still issues, please provide a full schematic of the electronics installation indicating equipment, how it is connected and how it is powered.

Derek
