[LW11] SOG reading fluctuations - Chief - 07-09-19 02:37 PM

I have an Axiom Pro 12” and 9” with an external GPS antenna.
The SOG reading intermittently becomes unstable. Normal operation provides a very consistent reading but with no change to screens or on board systems, the SOG begins to very by as much as 1 knot. It changes so quickly the the tenths number can’t be read. It cause all TTG numbers to vary so quickly it can be hard to read the last digit.
Where to start?

Thanks,
John

Dear chirf,

Thank you for your post.

Have you got the internal GPS on the Axioms turned off? HOMESCREEN> HOTSPOT GPS POSITION>SETTINGS>TOGGLE INTERNAL GPS OFF

What is the external GPS source and are there any other GPS antennas in the network?

What revision of software do you currently have on the Axiom?

Many Thanks
Louise

I have a GA150 connected directly to the 12” Axiom Pro.
The internal GPS no longer shows as available since we installed the GA150.
Software is 3.9.46
I will check the status of the internal GPS sensor on the 9” Axiom Pro as I have done a factory reset and have not checked to be sure that GPS antenna is still turned off.
Thank you,

John

I am on the current software 3.9.46.
I have a GA150 connected to the Axiom Pro 12.
The internal GPS antenna on the 9” Pro is turned off.
The 12” Pro only shows one antenna as internal but I believe that’s how a GA150 is displayed when connected.
I checked available GPS sources and the network only shows one.

Dear Chief,

Thank you for the post.

The GA150 is an extension of the internal GPS, so you will need to have the internal GPS switched on.

Try using the internal GPS of the Axiom Pro it is not currently connected to and see if this makes a difference.

What is the HDOP of the GPS status page and how many satellites are there?

We have a new software release available called Lighthouse 3.10 Bermuda. Please upgrade to this version.

If the problem persists after the upgrade, please consult a local dealer for testing of the units.

Many Thanks
Louise
