I have an A series MFD with a cp100. I am thinking about going to a thru hull for better reading on plane. Would you suggest the cpt120 for that application?

Thru-hull transducer will generally support the best overall fishfinder performance. The A80350 CPT-120 DownVision Transducer would indeed be recommended for use with systems featuring an ax8/eSx8/Axiom DV 7 MFD or CP100 DownVision Fishfinder Sounder Module.
