[CA11] Raymarine RD 424 Radar
We just but a boat that is equiped with a Raymarine RD424 radome scanner and we want to add a Raymarine MFD GPS. We're looking at the Axiom models; will this MFD model correctly accept the signals from the RD424 radar? I can only fin where the RD424 works with either the E series or C Series displays.

Thanks,

RE: [CA11] Raymarine RD 424 Radar
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Mike,

Unfortunately, the last generation of MFDs which were designed for use with radomes having an analog video interface (ex. RD218, RD424) were the long retired C/E-Series Classic MFDs. Caution should be exercised when considering the purchase of one of MFDs of this generation ... particularly with regard to the availability of cartography, and that parts and service are no longer available many these legacy products (i.e. C/E-Series Classic MFDs, 2D/4D/RD218/RD424 radomes). Without such cartography ... and the ability to get updates to the cartography, the MFDs would either display no detailed cartography or would display outdated ... and therefore potentially inaccurate cartography. C/E-Series Classic MFDs were designed for use with Navionics Gold, Platinum, and HotMaps cartography which had been installed onto Navionics Compact Flash chart cards. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject.

You may want to consider private sale of the RD424 to offset the cost of a currently manufactured radome which may in turn be used with one of Raymarine's currently manufactured MFDs ... which will in turn support a number of available types of cartography, a far greater number of features, and support the latest Raymarine technology.
