a78 Multi-Function Display
Hello, I bought Raymarine a78 Multi-Function Display. I have adapted the A80171 version of the P319 fishfinder transducer transducer to be interfaced to the DSM300. To connect a78 on the DSM300's SeaTalkHS socket do I need to buy some cable?
Thank you
Sergio

RE: a78 Multi-Function Display
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Sergio,

The DSM's SeaTalkhs socket may be mated to the Network socket of an a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD or HS5 RayNet Network Switch via and assembly constructed from an A80272 RayNet (M) to SeaTalkhs (M) Adapter and an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RayNet (F) Cable.

it's not possible use SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk ng Converter Kit? Because I have the cables ready in the cockpit. I would just remove the old C70

sepvelasco,

It is not possible to do as you have suggested. Please refer to my initial response addressing how these products must be interfaced to one another.

Sergio,

It is not possible to interface a 50/200kHz fishfinder transducer to the TRANSDUCER socket of an ax8 MFD, eSx8 MFD, or CP100.

RE: a78 Multi-Function Display
Sergio,

It is not acceptable to simply insert a cable which has been terminated with a RJ45 (M) plug into a SeaTalkhs socket such as is found on a DSM30/300. Instead, a cable terminated with a SeaTalkhs plug (features a weatherproof locking ring with a RJ45 (M) plug inside of it must be used to mate/secure the communications cable to the product's SeaTalkhs socket. Should there be an issue with the cable having to be chased through a binnacle tube and it be desired to chase a RJ45 plug rather then a RayNet (F) plug, then it would indeed be permissible to use a cable assembly constructed from an A80247 RayNet (F) to RJ45 (F) Adapter and an appropriate length of SeaTalkhs (M) to RJ45 (M) Cable.

RE: a78 Multi-Function Display
IS it possible to have 2 TRANSDUCERS on the same boat? I could keep the old one on the DSM300 and buy another transducer for a78.
Thank you again

RE: a78 Multi-Function Display
Sergio,

It should indeed be possible to install and simultaneously operate fishfinders using both a CHIRP/DownVision transducer and a 50kHz/200kHz transducers.
