[CA] New installation help
Just purchased new Axium 12" touchscreen and Quantom radar. Understand most of the wireing but want to conect two vhf and autopilot via 0183 adaptor. Question is since only one helm station ( radio and autopilot) will be on at a time, can I just wire the two radios in parallel and the two autopilots in parallel with both to the one adaptor? Has to talk to autopilot but has to talk and listen to the vhf ( gps-D.S.C)

RE: [CA] New installation help
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Frenchy,

While it is certainly possible to split the signal of an E70196 VHF NMEA 0183 to STng Converter Kit to supply up to three VHF radios with GPS data, the E70196's limited set of NMEA 0183 sentences does not include navigation data which would result from commanding the MFD to go to a waypoint / cursor position or to follow a route. The latter is required by autopilots to support tracking to a waypoint. Those interested in interfacing an autopilot having a 4800 BAUD communications interface supporting NMEA 0183 v2.0 or higher would be advised to add a NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 data bridging device (ex. Actisense NGW-1-ISO-STNG, etc.) as a spur to the system's NMEA 2000 backbone to permit communications between the MFD and autopilot(s).
