[LW11] Ray 260 and Ray60 compatibility with Axiom MFD
I have a brand new sailboat that came with an Axiom 7 MFD. I need to purchase a VHF and AIS transceiver. I like the modularity, features and price of the older Ray260VHF and the price of the Ray60 VHF-both legacy products. Seems like the only advantage of the newer Ray63 is the built in GPS. I dont think I need built in GPS on the VHF though if networked with the Axiom7 MFD which has its own built in GPS, correct?
Questions: 1)Will both of these legacy radios work well with the Axiom 7 or should I put out the extra few hundred for the newer Ray63?
2) Is the AIS 700 the only transceiver with a splitter that will work with this setup or is there another option that will work as well?

RE: [LW11] Ray 260 and Ray60 compatibility with Axiom MFD
Dear jtis,

Thank you for your query.

Both the Ray60 and the Ray260 is compatible on an STng backbone networked with the Axiom, GPS data will be sent over this network from the internal GPS in the Axiom.

The AIS700 is the only transceiver we have produced with an internal splitter, this is also compatible on the STng network.

Many Thanks
Louise

Thank you for the answer.
Q: Is there an advantage to getting the newer Ray63 over the Ray260 or 60 in this setting?

RE: [LW11] Ray 260 and Ray60 compatibility with Axiom MFD
Dear jtis,

Thank you for your response.

The Ray63 is a fixed unit where as the Ray260 is a black box with a
handset.

The Ray60 and Ray63 are both fixed VHF units, the Ray63 offers everything the Ray60 does with the added extra of internal GPS and options for 2 wireless handsets.

Many Thanks
Louise

I want a second station mike for the Ray260 but the A80196R is not available.
Q:Is there another second mike that I can use that is compatible? Part#?
