RE: [CA11] E120W engine data display
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Hank496,

The E-Series Widescreen MFDs provide no configuration settings to configure the precision which will be used in displaying Engine Hours. Within currently produced Raymarine MFDs, Engine Hours are reported to 0.1 hours. Unfortunately, the simulator for the E-Series Widescreen MFDs was not designed to support engine data (and more specifically the Engine Hours data item). As you are seeing Engine Hours reported as a whole number, this may indeed be the limit of the displayed resolution for this data item. That said, I would have thought that this feature would have been brought to Raymarine's attention sooner. This may alternatively be a feature of the engine gateway. The latter may be determined by interfacing a NMEA 2000 analyzer (ex. Actisense NGT-1 & PC running Actisense NMEA Reader software, etc.) to the NMEA 2000 backbone to monitor the PGN including engine hours to determine the precision of this data item transmitted to the NMEA 2000 backbone. If found to be a feature of the E-Series Widescreen MFD software and should the MFD be operating with the latest E-Series Widescreen MFD software, then nothing further may be down with respect to addressing this, as software development for these MFDs ended approximately 7-1/2 years ago with the E-Series Widescreen MFD v2.65 software update.

Raymarine has neither specified whether the E-Series Widescreen MFD software is rounding or truncating engine hour data. However, as your engine hours are also being reported on the Volvo Helmview display, determination of rounding or truncation should be a fairly simple matter. If the decimal value of the hours reported by the Volvo Helmview display is .5, .6, .7, .8, or .9 and the Engine Hours reported by the MFD is 1 hour greater than whole part of the engine hours reported by the Volvo Helmview display, then rounding up is occurring. However, if the decimal value of the hours reported by the Volvo Helmview display is .5, .6, .7, .8, or .9 and the Engine Hours reported by the MFD equal to the whole part of the engine hours reported by the Volvo Helmview display, then truncation is occurring.
