[CA11] AIS to VHF Mounting Distance
I am trying to find a good location to mount my AIS700. The best location in terms of access and cable runs is very close to the VHF radio. Because they share an antenna, I am wondering if the 1 meter distance in the tech manual is necessary. Are there any compensatory actions I can take - like bonding or a grounded copper screen between the units. Any thoughts are appreciated.

RE: [CA11] AIS to VHF Mounting Distance
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum mmkwitek,

Raymarine recommends that the AIS700 be installed at least 1m (3ft) from any equipment transmitting or cables carrying radio signals e.g.VHF radios, cables and antennas. The only guidance provided when this constraint cannot be complied with is to always ensure the maximum possible separation between different items of electrical equipment, to provide the best conditions for EMC performance throughout the installation.
