[CA11] Does MARPA need autopilot or electric compass to function
Hi,

In 3.8. manual it remains unclear, what source information MARPA needs to function. I do have MFD Axiom and Quantum Radome, but none of the MARPA features, not even SOG & COG which are on page 200 of the manual said to work only based on GPS are not working.

RE: [CA11] Does MARPA need autopilot or electric compass to function
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Mika,

Proper operation of the MARPA feature requires that Raymarine systems be interfaced to a stabilized heading data source having a 10Hz update rate. Any compatible model of Raymarine radar transducer (radome or open array) may be interfaced to the MFD supporting MARPA radar features. North Up and Course Up Radar orientations also require heading input.

But I have a Quantum radome, AXIOM MFD & RV-100, all bought and installed for season 2019 and otherwise functioning well.
best regards

Mika,

Noted. However should you desire to use the MARPA feature, then the previously specified requirement for 10Hz heading data will need to be satisfied by adding a source of such data to the system.

What additional equipment will provide 10Hz heading data to the system? Autopilot? El compass?

Mika,

Examples of products which are capable of producing 10Hz heading include, but are not limited to the following:
- Raymarine AR200 Augmented Reality Sensor (ay be calibrated via a MFD running the latest LightHouse 3 software)
- Evolution autopilot EV-1 or EV-2 CCU (may be calibrated via a MFD running the latest LightHouse 3 software or LightHouse II v19.03 software)
- Raymarine legacy SPX autopilot, S2G, S3G, etc.
- Autocomp 1000 (NMEA 0183) ... may be bridged to SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 via a NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 data bridging device (ex. Actisense NGW-1-STNG, etc.)
- third party satellite compass
