C-80 to E-80 Classic
About 6 months ago, I started having problems with the C-80's power button. Some contact cleaner, cleared things out, until last week. The screen went blank, had to do a Factory Reset to bring it back on-line.

So, I found an E-80 to replace it. Now the fun starts, I have the RS130, which was connected to a 5 way R52131 Convertor (All in E22158 kit), then to the C-80, via a A22164 cable (ST1 to STNG).

After installing the E-80, I purchased an A06061 cable (ST2 to STNG). It doesn't see the RS130. Now I see that I need a different 5 way connector, A06064.

What is the difference between the two convertors? I have the A06064 convertor on order.

Thanks.... Capt. Hank

RE: C-80 to E-80 Classic
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Hank,

Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how to interface a Raystar 130 GPS Sensor to an E-Series Classic MFD.

Unlike a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter, the SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector does not feature a microprocessor which has been programmed to bridge communications from a SeaTalkng backbone to a SeaTalk buss. The SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter's yellow SeaTalk socket is exclusively designed permit the converter to be interfaced to an unpowered SeaTalk bus of up to five devices having SeaTalk communications interface. Although similar in appearance, the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter has a pair of SeaTalkng backbone sockets, a pair of SeaTalkng spur sockets, and a single SeaTalk socket, while the SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector has a pair of SeaTalkng backbone sockets and three SeaTalkng spur sockets. The SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter's yellow SeaTalk socket cannot be used to interface a device having a SeaTalkng communications interface to a SeaTalkng backone.

The Raystar 130 GPS Sensor and E-Series Classic MFD's SeaTalk2/NMEA 2000 port (when the MFD has been updated with v5.69 C-Series Classic MFD software) are each designed to support SeaTalkng communications. As at least three SeaTalkng spur sockets are required to interface a Raystar 130 GPS Sensor to an E-Series Classic MFD, it would be necessary to provide the required number of SeaTalkng spur sockets within the backbone by either:
- replacing the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter within your system with a SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector or
- connecting a SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector, SeaTalkng T-Piece, or SeaTalkng Inline Terminator to the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector via an appropriate length of SeaTalkng Backbone Cable.

RE: C-80 to E-80 Classic
Chuck.... Connected the 5 way connector, everything worked great. So, I take the Platinum+ card out of my E120 Classic and install in the E80. It doesn't see the card! I tried other older cards, it will see a 128MB card.

Now what......?

RE: C-80 to E-80 Classic
Chuck, my card reader sees the files. I did delete the file you mentioned. No, luck the E80 doesn't see it. Now on the E120, the system reboots, two times, to load the files.

I will head to the marina in the morning and try it on the Post's E120.

Thanks again.....

Capt. Hank

RE: C-80 to E-80 Classic
Hank,

As indicated in the referenced FAQ, should you not already have done so, it is recommended that you verify that the MFD has been updated with the latest software (v5.69). If so and if it has been determined that the MFD's card reader is operational, then it's time to acquire a compatible chart card.
