Unable to view nautical chart data from my chart card using a/c/e/eS/gS MFD,
Unable to view nautical chart data from my chart card using a/c/e/eS/gS MFD,

It is recommended that the operational state of each of the MFD's microSD memory card reader slots be tested by attempting to capture the MFD's screen image to a microSD memory card (POWER->SCREEN CAPTURE). As some MFD have two microSD memory card slots (upper & lower) certain to test this feature using each of the MFD's microSD reader slots. Should the MFD report being unable to save a screen capture file using either of its microSD reader slots, then the MFD should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.

Prior to v17.45, the default Chart Selection setting was Navionics Nautical Charts. Please note that following the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD v17.45 software update and System Settings Reset, the following default Chart Selection settings will be occur:
- if no chart card is present within the MFD's memory card reader slot or that of a networked MFD, then the default Chart Selection setting for any Chart application pane/pane opened will be Navionics Nautical Charts.
- if one chart card is present within the MFD's memory card reader slot or that of a networked MFD, then the default Chart Selection setting for any Chart application pane/pane opened will be configured to the type of chart card (LightHouse Charts, Navionics Nautical Charts, or C-Map Nautical Charts) that has been detected by the Chart application.
- if two or more chart cards are present within the MFD's memory card reader slot or that of a networked MFD and one of these chart cards contain LightHouse Charts, then the default Chart Selection setting for any Chart application pane/pane opened will be configured to the LightHouse Charts.
- if two chart cards are present within the MFD's memory card reader slot or that of a networked MFD and one of these chart cards contain Navionics Chart and the other contain C-Map Charts, then the default Chart Selection setting for any Chart application pane/pane opened will be configured to the Navionics Nautical Charts.

Please additionally note, that following the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD v17.45 software update, the Description field of the Chart Selection menu will include detailed information concerning the LightHouse, Navionics, and/or C-Map chart cards within your system (see the screen snapshot below).

Should the Description field of the Chart Selection menu not be populated with this data, then it would indicate one of the following:

- the MFD has not been updated with v17.45 or later a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software

- the microSD memory card(s) within the MFDs memory card reader do not contain chart data ... while the microSD to SD adapter sleeves provided with the chart card's containing LightHouse, Navionics, or C-Map cartography feature labels identifying the type of cartography which has been programmed onto the microSD memory card, the microSD memory card itself does not. As a result, microSD memory cards used to perform software updates, record data, backup data, or transfer data are commonly confused for the system's chart card.

The root level of a Navionics chart card will include but may not be limited to the following files:
- a file titled ntag.txt
- a folder titled Navionic containing Charts Folder which in turn contains several files having .nv2 file extensions.

The root level of a C-Map chart card will include but may not be limited to the following files:
- a file titled CMAP.BND
- a folder titled CHARTS containing Charts Folder which in turn minimally contains a file having .LIC and .MRC file extensions.

The root level directory of a LightHouse chart card will include one or more files having the file extensions:
- .rx5
- .r0x (where x is an integer value (ex. 1, 2, 3), ex. .r01, .r02, .r03, etc.)

- the chart data stored onto the chart card has become corrupted. If the chart card is believed to contain C-Map or Navionics cartography, then is it recommended that C-Map or Navionics accordingly be contacted to address the problem with your chart card.

- the MFD's memory card reader is not operational (see information above)

Accordingly if using Navionics Nautical Charts cartography or C-Map cartopgraphy, it will be necessary to configure each Chart application page/pane in which you desire to view your Navionics or C-Map Charts to Navionics Nautical Charts or C-Map Charts (MENU->PRESENTATION->CHART CHART SELECTION). If so configured, using Navionics Nautical Charts, and should the MFD's microSD memory card reader slots be operational, then it is recommended that you verify that the Chart application's Easy View feature (MENU->PRESENTATION->VIEW & MOTION->EASY VIEW) has been configured to OFF.
