Backup GPS data source for AIS950

The design of the AIS950 Class A AIS transceiver includes a GPS receiver within the chassis of the AIS950. Reception of GPS data by the AIS950's internal GPS receiver is dependent upon the AIS950 being interfaced to the supplied passive GPS antenna and that the supplied passive GPS antenna be installed in a location affording it an unobstructed view of the skies overhead. The AIS950's junction box permits the AIS950 to additionally be interfaced to the NMEA 0183 output of the vessel's ECDIS (ex. a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD, C/E-Series Widescreen MFD, etc.), which may in turn serve a backup GPS and GPS Datum source to the AIS950. Unlike an ECDIS, most GPS sensors (ex. Raystar 125 GPS Sensor, Raystar 120 NMEA GPS Sensor, etc.) do not typically transmit GPS Datum information and accordingly may not be used as a backup GPS data source for the AIS950.
