Video input sources for MFDs using LightHouse II and LightHouse 3

When operating with the latest available Raymarine product software updates, Raymarine's MFDs using LightHouse II and LightHouse 3 feature support for the following types of video inputs:

- NTSC/PAL composite video source (ex. CAM100, CAM50, T-Series Thermal Cameras, SatTV receivers, DVD Players, etc.) ... not supported by Axiom MFDs and a6x MFDs, a7x MFDs, as these MFDs do not feature an interface for NTSC/PAL video inputs found in Axiom Pro MFDs and c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs.

- Raymarine and FLIR Network/IP Cameras (ex. Raymarine CAM210, CAM220, CAM200IP, FLIR M132/M232 Thermal Cameras (MFDs running LH3 software only ... MFDs running LightHouse II software will be able to display video only from these thermal cameras)

- Possibly, third-party IP cameras and video encoders (ex. Axis M70 Series Encoders (M7011, M7014, M7016), etc..) Third-party cameras are not tested by Raymarine, are not explicitly intended to be supported, and we cannot offer any support if you choose to use a third-party video device, but they may well work provided that they fulfil at least the following minimum requirements:
  • Must support H.264 video compression
  • Must support RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol)
  • Must support ONVIF Service Detection (ONVIF User Authentication MUST BE DISABLED) ... inability to configure this IP camera feature is the most common cause for IP camera incompatibility.
  • Must have DHCP enabled & Dynamic IP set to ON
  • 720p or 1080P resolution
Please remember that we cannot give any support for third-party video devices, and that just because the camera works in today's software, does not mean that it might not stop working with a future MFD software release.

IP Camera System Functionality:
- Connection of IP cameras requires Lighthouse V5 or later software
- Connect an unlimited number of IP cameras on the EtherNet network
- The MFD will automatically assign an IP address to each IP camera installed
- The IP cameras must be interfaced via Ethernet cable to the Raymarine Ethernet network.
- The networked IP cameras can be viewed on any MFD on the Ethernet network.
- The analogue camera can only be viewed in the Camera app of the MFD, the camera is connected to.
- The Camera app supports ‘cycling’ of selected cameras through the Camera app menu option
- Default setting is 10s
- All IP cameras networked can be cycled/scrolled from any MFD
- The connected analogue camera will only be part of the cycle/scroll sequence in which the camera is connected to the viewing MFD
- All connected and networked cameras can be renamed.
- Cycle between camera inputs (with menu item to hide analogue cameras if no analogue input)
- Ability to touch swipe to change the current camera being viewed
- Application renamed ‘Camera’ app

Network cameras have an installation advantage in systems featuring more than one MFD where camera video will be viewed. In such installations, the camera would simply be interfaced to the system's network switch (ex. HS5 Network Switch, SR6 Sirius Satellite Weather/Network Switch, SeaTalkhs Network Switch). Should a NTSC/PAL camera be installed in a system featuring more than one MFD where camera video will be viewed, then it would be necessary to install third party video amplifier/splitter which in turn would need to be interfaced to each MFD where camera video will be viewed. In a nutshell, network/IP cameras have the advantage of potentially reducing the amount of cable which must be chased throughout the boat.
