RE: AIS hookup to e95 - Standard Horizon Matrix GX2200 - Wire help
I have a C90W chartplotter and would like to interface the AIS output from a GX2200. Will these same instructions work?

Thanks

RE: AIS hookup to e95 - Standard Horizon Matrix GX2200 - Wire help
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Dave,

The instructions previously supplied for interfacing the MFD to the VHF radio / AIS receiver via NMEA 2000 communications apply to the C/E-Series Widescreen MFDs as well. Please note that it is alternatively possible to interface the C/E-Series Widescreen MFD to the VHF radio / AIS receiver via the MFD's NMEA 0183 Port 2 to support bidirectional communications between the VHF radio / AIS receiver.
- connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 OUT2+ (orange/yellow) lead to the NMEA 0183 IN+ (blue) lead of the GX2200
- connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 OUT2- (orange/brown) lead to the NMEA 0183 IN- (green) lead of the GX2200
- connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 IN2+ (orange/white) lead to the NMEA 0183 OUT+ (gray) lead of the GX2200
- connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 IN2- (orange/green) lead to the NMEA 0183 OUT- (brown) lead of the GX2200
- Configure the GX2200's NMEA DATA IN/OUT setting to 38400 BPS.
- Configure the MFD's NMEA 0183 Port 2 Setting (HOME->SET-UP->SYSTEM SETTINGS->NMEA SET-UP->NMEA INPUT PORT 1) to AIS 38400.
- To view AIS objects within the MFD's Chart application, configure the AIS overlay to ON.

RE: AIS hookup to e95 - Standard Horizon Matrix GX2200 - Wire help
Hi Chuck,
If I'm following correctly, I can hook the Standard Horizon GX2200 directly to my e97 and have AIS and DSC data show on the e97 display. No additional items would need to be purchased for them to "talk" to each other, just connect the wires properly?

ais700 and Standard Horizon GX2400 AIS/GPS/VHF
I have an AIS 700 connected to a 125MFD, and old non AIS ICOM VHF. The AIS 700 is working fine. I am replacing the ICOM VHF with the SH GX2400 unit which has a Class B receiver only. I plan to use this feature only on the SH GX2400 VHF to facilitate rapid DSC calls to target approaching vessels. I do not plan to have the SH G2400 AIS interface with any other devices. My question is whether while the AIS 700 is using the antenna through the internal splitter to transmit and receive,, will the SH GX 2400 AIS receiver also be able to simultaneously receive its AIS signal? As always thanks for your advice.

RE: AIS hookup to e95 - Standard Horizon Matrix GX2200 - Wire help
Hello gerald,

Q1-While the AIS 700 is using the antenna through the internal splitter to transmit and receive, will the SH GX 2400 AIS receiver also be able to simultaneously receive its AIS signal?
A1-No, the AIS will take precedence over the VHF, once it finished it will allow the VHF to receive or transmit. In this case should we want full operation of the VHF we would recommend installing a second antenna so both units have their own.

Chris,
