Engine Computer Interface
Hi, I have a dual engine motoryacht, John Deere engines that have CAN bus (SAE J1913 compliant) digital interfaces to existing Murphy Powerview digital displays. Is it possible the ECI-100 will adapt the digital engine data to the Seatalk NG bus, hence allowing data to be selected / displayed on the chartplotter or i70s displays?

RE: Engine Computer Interface
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Lothar,

The ECI-100 is neither designed nor tested for use with John Deere engine systems. Maretron's J2K100 Engine Gateway claims support for John Engines. You may want to consider contacting them to determine whether your specific John Deere engines are supported by the J2K100. If so, then the J2K100s (one will be required for each engine) would need to be interfaced to the engine and as individual spurs to the SeaTalkng backbone. The J2K100s will also need to be configured (contact Maretron for the procedures and/or required hardware) such that the J2K100 which is interfaced to the port engine will transmit NMEA 2000 PGNs featuring device Instance 0. Similarly, the J2K100 which is interfaced to the starboard engine will transmit NMEA 2000 PGNs featuring device Instance 1.
