Making DSC call using AIS
I have a Raymarine AIS650 and an ICOM 506 VHF radio.

I want to know if I integrate the VHF via NMEA 0183 to the NMEA 0183 pigtail on the AIS power cord can I make a DCS call to another vessel that I can see on AIS without having to manually enter the MMSI # of that vessel?

I know that certain companies can do this but they advertise this w using both of their own devices working together.

RE: Making DSC call using AIS
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum moonzy1,

Thanks for the feature inquiry. Raymarine products do not presently support initiating a DSC call to a vessel via interaction with an AIS target which is either present within a MFD's AIS target list and/or is plotted with the MFD's Chart application. A feature request has been logged to consider this feature for inclusion within a future LightHouse software update as well as to that of Raymarine's VHF radios. As this would require the ability to initiate commands to a third party VHF radio, further cooperation and software development would also be necessary on the part of third party VHF radio manufacturers with which this feature would be supported.

Please click here more information concerning product and feature suggestions.
