Will the new CPT100 DVS work on A98 MFD

Photo Will the new CPT100 DVS work on A98 MFD
I have an A98 and am using the CPT100. The break away bracket is broken. I saw that there is a new CPT100 DVS transducer; with what appears to be a better bracket. Will the new transducer work on the A98 MFD, is it better then the old CPT100 or can I just purchase the new style bracket and use it with the original CPT100. Thank You Dave

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Freemdav,

Should the CPT-100's bracket be broken, then it may be replaced (part #R70257). The CPT-100 DVS bracket may not be used with CPT-100 transducers. Click here to view the FAQ addressing how to purchase Raymarine parts. The ax8 MFDs, eSx8 MFDs, and CP100 will all function with any of the CHIRP/DownVision transducers found here, including the CPT-100 DVS.

What are the new improvements the CPT100 DVS has?

Freemdav,

The CPT-100 DVS is designed to deliver the same CHIRP/DownVision performance found in the CPT-100. The CPT-100 DVS is more cost effective to produce and will replace the CPT-100 for ax8, eSx8, and CP100 applications.

I have a related question regarding the A98 MFD and adding the CPT-100dvs transducer. I am confused about the sonar module CP100. Since the A98 is "Downvision Ready" does this mean I can simply connect the Cpt-100dvs directly to my MFD, or is the sonar module (CP100) still required?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum gunslinger,

Yes. Should the vessel's marine electronics system feature an ax8 MFD or eSx8 MFD, then it would not be necessary to install a CP100 CHIRP / DownVision Fishfinder Sounder Module within the system, as these MFDs feature internal CHIRP/DownVision Fishfinder Sonar circuitry. The compatible transducer would simply be connected directly to the MFD's TRANSDUCER socket. However, should the vessel's marine electronics system feature a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs, but not include an ax8 MFD or eSx8 MFD, and should CHIRP (conical) / DownVision Fishfinder Sonar features be desired, then it would be necessary add
- a compatible CHIRP/DownVision Transducer and
- a CP100 CHIRP / DownVision Fishfinder Sounder Module, or an ax8 MFD, or an eS8 MFD
to the system.
