RE: [CA] Autopilot for a 45 bridge boat.
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Fish On,

Is the volume which you have referred to that of the vessel's steering ram? If not, then please specify the cubic capacity of the steering ram. If so, then a Type 1 Hydraulic Pump rather than a Type 2 Hydraulic Pump would have typically been recommended. Unlike mechanical steering systems, in which it would not uncommon for an owner / installer to step up to the next larger capacity drive when nearing the upper spec. of the drive unit, the same is not so for hydraulic drives. The lower limit for a Type 2 drive is 14 cu. in. and your steering cylinder's cubic capacity is only 13.7 cu. in. The typically recommended Evolution autopilot kit for steering systems having the specified ram capacity is the T70330 - EV150 Hydraulic Autopilot (includes 12V Type 1 Hydraulic Pump). Should the vessel have two steering stations, then it would be recommended that a second E70329 p70RS Autopilot Control Head be considered for installation at the second steering station.

RE: [CA] Autopilot for a 45 bridge boat.
Chuck,
When I was in heavy sea's, the pump overheated, and shut down. Works fine now, but rather oversize the system if it will help. Should I go to the next size up? If so, what package do you recommend.
Please advise,
Thanks
