[CA11] New ES128 using DSM 300 seatalk cable? Importing waypoints from classic?
I have a new ES128 and wanted to network my DSM 300 from my C120 seatalk to use its transducer. Since my DSM 300 and C120 classic are older, do I need to upgrade DSM software for my ES128? Or do I just network a seatalk cable to the ES128?
(currently DSM V4.20 and V518C)

Secondly, having a hard time adding older Hotspots fishing chip and Navionics which were on C120 to ES128? I saved all the files to a micro SD card, but the ES128 only reads the folder and not whats in it?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Mike,

The Ethernet communications ports of the DSM300 features a SeaTalkhs socket design while that of the currently manufactured Raymarine equipment features a RayNet socket design. A DSM30/300 maybe interfaced to the Ethernet Network (RayNet) socket of an eS-Series MFD via a cable assembly which has been constructed from an A80272 RayNet (M) Pins to SThs (M) Socket Adaptor Cable and an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RayNet (F) Cable.

Please noted that Navionics cartography is encrypted. You cannot simply copy the cartography from the Navionics chart card used with the C-Series MFD to a microSD memory card. It is recommended that Navionics be contacted regarding any promotions to update you to a Navionics Upgrade microSD memory card. Regarding any waypoints or routes presently stored on the C-Series Classic MFD, please click here to view a FAQ addressing how the data from within an Archive.fsh file exported from the C-Series Classic MFD may be used to create a GPX file for use with the eS128 MFD.

Wouldn't a A80276 cable (RayNet (F) to SThs (M) Socket Adaptor Cable) connect the ES128 to the seatalk?

Thanks.

Mike,

While the A80276 cable (RayNet (F) to SThs (M) Socket Adaptor Cable features plugs of the correct gender, the length of its cable (3m) will not typically be long enough for most installations. However, should your DSM be located within 3m of the MFD, then this cable alone should suffice.

Thanks!
So just plug it in and what about choosing which transducer to activate?
My ES128 currently gives me the choice of using the transom mounted CPT100DVS in sonar or DV mode - will there be another option that pops up after I install the seatalk cable? Also, should I disconnect the CPT100DVS transducer cable from the back of the ES128? Or OK to leave it in?

Mike,

When a Fishfinder application page/pane is opened, the application's menu will provide and option to select the fishfinder Channel to be viewed. Should the 200kHz or 50kHz channel of the DSM300 tab be selected, then the Fishfinder application's menu will include a Set-up option which in turn supports transducer set-up. Transducer selection need only occur within one of the Fishfinder application pages / panes which has been configured to use the 200kHz or 50kHz channel of the DSM300. Accordingly, the model of transducer which has been interfaced to the DSM300 will need to be specified.
